During the second half of our first term, our writing genre in English changed to focus on Procedural Writing. The children started off by reading lots of different types of examples of the writing, with one in particular really catching their attention; the instructions for a game called Luta De Gala. This is a Brazilian game with a very simple aim, to take your partner’s piece of cloth before they get to yours. The only minor catch is that both players are only allowed to hop on one leg and to use their non dominant hand to try and grab their opposition’s cloth. Obviously we had try it out for ourselves, just to see if the instructions were clear enough to follow!
