On Friday 9th February the pupils and staff of St. Joseph’s N.S. were delighted to receive a visit from Mairéad Mc Guinness, Vice President of the European Parliament. The school is involved in the Blue Star Programme which aims to foster a better understanding and knowledge of the European Union among Irish primary school pupils, through classroom projects and activities.
Mairéad gave an interesting talk to 5th and 6th class pupils where she explained the function of the European Parliament and gave the pupils an insight into her role as Vice President.
She was then given the opportunity to view a number of projects that have been completed. Mairéad was impressed by the level of creativity and interest shown by the pupils.
