This month First Class have been learning about length. The children compared the difference between long, short, and tall using playdough and string. We also brought the learning outside when the class had to estimate and measure the length of different areas of the school:
The children have been developing oral language skills using barrier games. Recently the class had great fun using Duplo. Each pair of children were given the same blocks as their partner. One child then needed to build a structure with the blocks. They then needed to give directions to their partner, only by speaking, to build an identical structure (with a ‘barrier’ between them to block their view!) The children were very successful in the activity and even Ms Hennessy got involved!
