Principal’s Message

Dear Parents /Guardians,
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Spring is approaching and we are all hoping for better weather to get children out and about, active and enjoying the sunshine. It hasn’t stopped our children
attending wonderful workshops in the county museum; field trips to St. Brigid’s Shrine in Faughart; active walking around the school; trip to Seinn; the peace
proms in Dublin; badminton competition in Dublin and quiz competition in Dundalk.
There has been a lovely buzz around the school with students enjoying getting back into the learning routines and playing with their friends. It was lovely to
host the children’s Grandparent Day with a fabulous turnout in spite of the atrocious weather.
Our job in St. Joseph’s is to help every child to come to love and acceptthemselves as they are and help them see that they have much to offer this
world should they choose to fulfil their own unique potential. We try to build their self-confidence so that they are unafraid to take the risk of attempting
new challenges, to help them blossom and grow as individuals and to give them the academic, social and emotional skills to enable them to better realise their true potential when they head to second level. With this in mind, this term we are giving a high profile to children who display good learner skills and dispositions. We are focussing on skills that help our children be good learners- skills and dispositions like co-operation, persistence, reflection and creativity. Please check out our monthly photos of children in different classes showing us what good learners they are. If you are in the Reception area of the school, please have a look at our disposition display where children have posted reports of themselves being very proactive
learners.
Every day I have the privilege of witnessing wonderful children transform and emerge more confident and assured of their worth as individuals, helped by
the loving and guiding presence of parents, guardians, teachers, special needs assistants and other members of the school community. We have a most wonderful, supportive school community. We should celebrate that. As the old saying goes-“Ní neart go cur le chéile” -there is no strength without unity.
Ms. Roz
