Making Brown Bread

On Friday Ms. Donnelly and some lucky  children got to bake brown bread.We weighed,measured and mixed to get the recipe just right. We all enjoyed our bread with a nice cup of tea.


Ingredients:                                    Equipment:

400g wholemeal Flour                                                        mixing bowl

Pinch of salt                                                                           fork/spatula

2 eggs                                                                                      loaf tin

1 teaspoon brown sugar                                                       oven

400 ml buttermilk                                                                  plate

Oats                                                                                    weighing scales

Flax seed and pumpkin  seed                          measuring jug

1 teaspoon of baking soda                                              Greaseproof paper


  1. Wash hands

2 .Preheat the oven to 375c  line a loaf tin with baking paper.

3. Place all dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix well.

4. Make a well, crack eggs in stir.

5. Add buttermilk,combine wet and dry ingredients.

6. Pour in to loaf tin.

7. Bake for 45-50 minutes.

8. Remove from oven , allow to stand for 10 minutes before serving.
