Students represented as DkIT de Chastelain Library Opens

One of the key figures of the peace process, General John de Chastelain, who was the head of the Independent International Commission on Decommissioning, was honoured at Dundalk Institute of Technology on May 2nd when the new library was named after him.

Two 6th class pupils from St. Joseph’s School, Mikaela Mc Kenny and Tiernan Connolly O’ Brien, represented young people in the region. During the prestigious event, Mikaela and Tiernan recited The Lake Isle of Inishfree by W B Yeats. They were accompanied on the harp by the Head of Music Education in DkIT, Dr Helen Lawlor.

It was a very proud moment for the school staff, children and parents. Their performance garnered much praise from the audience, including Mr. de Chastelain himself and his wonderful wife Mary-Kate.
