Mrs. Flanagan’s 3rd class made some beautiful St. Brigid’s crosses last Wednesday to celebrate her feast day.
It is said that St. Brigid wen to visit an elderly man in his sick bed. She stand spoke to him for a while and told him about God our Father and how much He loves us. As she spoke, she fashioned some reeds into the shape of a cross. Every year on the 1st of February, we celebrate St. Brigid and her great acts of kindness that she showed towards others.
The boys and girls took their crosses to mass on Thursday, where Fr. Derek blessed them.
It is said that if the crosses are hung above a doorway, that St. Brigid will bless anyone who passes under it.
