Mr. Toner‘s 5th class completed Autumn art for a wall display in their classroom to reflect the current season. The students learned what a silhouette is and used a silhouette of a tree as the stimulus for their art lesson.

The students started off by drawing their own tree and branches using a pencil. They then outlined the tree using a sharpie. After this, they coloured in the silhouette fully in black. They coloured the area around the branches with warm colours. The grass area was coloured in using green squares, and the sky was coloured in using blue squares.

The kids had a homework activity as part of wellness week to collect evidence of Autumn in their own gardens. The children brought these into school and they helped complete the Autumn art display in their classroom.
