Mrs. Maguire/ Ms. Markey’s, Fifth Class Make Smoothies for Well-Being Week!

As part of Well-Being Week, Fifth Class got creative and made healthy fruit smoothies! The aim was to encourage everyone to make nutritious choices and to show that healthy eating can be fun and delicious.
But this activity wasn’t just about food — it was also a fantastic learning opportunity! The pupils have been learning about “Bia” (Food) in their Gaeilge lessons, as well as how to write procedures (scriobhneoireacht ghnàthsùil) in Irish.
Before making the smoothies, the class worked together to write a procedure text in Gaeilge, using phrases like “Ar dtús,” “Ansin,” agus “Faoi dheireadh.” They described the ingredients (na comhábhair) and the method (na modh) needed to make their perfect smoothie.
When it was time to blend, the classroom was full of excitement — and lovely fruity smells! Everyone got to taste their creations, and the verdict was unanimous: sláintiúil agus blasta! (healthy and tasty!)
This hands-on activity helped the pupils:
Practise their Irish in a real-life context
Learn how to write and follow a procedure
Understand the importance of healthy eating
Work together as a team
Well done to Fifth Class for combining Well-Being, Gaeilge, and healthy choices in such a fun and creative way!
