R.I.P. means rest in peace. Our whole school community was heartbroken when we heard of the recent death of Liam Reilly, the very well known local composer and lead singer of the band Bagatelle. The mums, dads, nans and grandads might well remember his great hits Summer In Dublin, Streets of New York, Second Violin and his Eurovision entry Somewhere in Europe. Words cannot express what Liam did for the students of our school during two recordings (in 1991 and 2012) of the song he wrote specially for us, Another Christmas Morn. It is a really special song that we love singing together every year. Its beautiful lyrics tug at the heartstrings and will be hard for us to sing in the future without remembering Liam. He was very generous with his time and talent and provided our students with amazing experiences of the joy of sharing music together. May he now rest in peace and maybe entertain them all in heaven. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and want them to know that Liam will always hold a special place in the hearts of all here in St. Joseph’s School.

We include some photos of Liam with our students and staff below and also the wonderful video created for our song by the talented Michael Mc Philips, who also sadly passed away recently.
