We are delighted to announce that St. Joseph’s National School is proudly participating in the Blue Star Programme for the 2025–2026 school year!
The Blue Star Programme is a national initiative supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs. It aims to foster better understanding and awareness of the European Union (EU) and what it means to be a part of it — all through creative and engaging classroom projects.
Throughout the year, our pupils will explore:
📘 History, Geography and Culture of the EU
🎨 Art and Creativity inspired by European themes
🗣️ Language and Communication in the context of EU countries
👩🏫 Active Citizenship, where students will learn about EU institutions and Ireland’s role in Europe
The goal is to bring the idea of Europe into the classroom in a way that is both fun and educational, helping our pupils become informed, active EU citizens.
Activities will include interactive projects, language tasks, European Day of Languages celebrations, and even a Europe Day event in May!
We’re excited for our school community to come together to learn more about the people, countries, and values that shape the European Union. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
Stay tuned for updates on our Blue Star journey!
